Summary Statement
Past Forward, Inc. was formed in the spring of 1998, and is certified as a woman-owned small business according to federal and state standards. Dr. Rebecca Allen primarily conducts studies of the historic past and public outreach programs. Scott Baxter, M.A., conducts historical and archaeological research. Combined, the principals of Past Forward offer more than 35 years of experience in field, laboratory, and museum studies.
Past Forward's principals are formally trained and knowledgeable in the procedures and guidelines associated with the National Historic Preservation Act and the California Environmental Quality Act. They have served as Project Managers on dozens of environmental, historical and archaeological projects throughout the west, and written many cultural resource management documents. Past Forward has a proven track record of ensuring that client needs are met and work is completed under budget and within project schedules.
In California, Nevada, and Arizona, the principals have worked extensively on federal and state properties, military bases, city and county lands, as well as private holdings. They have recorded and evaluated historic adobe, logging, mining, ranching, rural settlement, and urban residential sites, as well as historic structures and landscapes. Each principal is dedicated to historical and archaeological research, and has formally published in their respective fields.
Public outreach and interpretation is an important component of archaeological studies. Past Forward's principals have participated in the creation of museum exhibits, public lectures, popular publications, interactive interpretive displays, site tours, video documentaries, local newspaper articles, television interviews, and Internet web sites.
